Hi,
I've got an issue with my gpsmap 62: when I'm walking or canoeing at a steady pace, the actual speed reading on the trip computer fluctuates between 3.5 and 5.5 kph, changing about once a second. That's definitely not my walking, I generally don't ac/decelerate that much :) The top speed also seems to be excessive, on two of occasions it was something in excess of 8 kph, which I surely didn't do (I had a pram and a sleeping baby with me, which usually stops all urges to run suddently). The moving average seems to be right.
My laymans' feeling is that it measures my speed by comparing two positions every second or so, and given the inaccuracy of 3+ m, it may give it some funny readings. Could I be right? If yes, could it be changed?
Is it linked somehow to the tracking rate?
Has anyone come across it, and is there a solution?
Thanks,
Paul
