I reported dangerous Lane Assist Errors to Garmin in December 2011. I included example Screenshots to show the problem. They blamed their data sources, but did not actually run the example routes I suggested to them.
Now after 6 months of me continually reporting other examples of the problem they have finally run the test routes and have accepted that there is a problem.
It would be useful if other people reported errors they have found. In the UK, using the last three map updates, I have established that the problem is the same in every map version. The current version is 2013.10.
Examples. On the M11 Soutbound at Junction 11 it indicates that you should position in the outside lane and exit through the arnco crash barrier.
On the A14 Southbound where the outside lanes become the M11, it indicates that to join the M11 you should position in the lefthand exit lane.
On the A14 Westbound at Junction 37 for Ely it again indicates exiting from the fast lane through the crash barrier. Most Junctions on the A14 and M11 appear to be wrongly indicated.
Yesterday in Mansfield, travelling towards Southwell it indicated that all 3 lanes turned left and I should position in the outside lane for Ratcliffe Gate. The two outside lanes go straight ahead and the left lane is for the left turn.
Try these routes:
Bar Hill to Trumpington (both near Cambridge). Two incorrect Lane Assist Icons occur. A14/M11 Junction and Junction 11.
Oodles Fancy Dress to Family Bakers (both in Mansfield). Shows incorrect position for left turn.
Any A14 Westbound route which exits at Junction 37 for Ely.
I have attached two screenshots which show the discrepancy between the LaneAssist and the Junction View.
I would be interested to hear of people experiencing similar problems at other junctions.
