Syncing with garmin connect using mobile broadband

This is probably a stupid question, but here goes...

I'm currently stuck using mobile broadband via a dongle, and the size of the dongle means that I can't plug the ANT agent USB stick into a USB port while the broadband dongle is connected. And obviously if I take out the bb dongle, the internet connection drops.

How do I sync to Garmin connect in that situation? If I put the ANT stick in, the data transfers from watch to computer, but can't upload to GC with no bb connection. If I then take out the ANT stick and put the BB dongle in, I don't seem to have a way to manually sync the data on my computer to GC...

Catch 22?

Any help appreciated...
  • Should still work. The ANT agent transmits the data from your device to your computer in the form of a fit file. You don't need Internet access for that

The location on a Windows 7 machine is
    C:\Users\<user ID>\AppData\Roaming\GARMIN\Devices\<device ID\Activites\

Then you can remove the USB connecter and plug in your dongle, got to Garmin Connect. Click Upload, then upload all new activities.

As Phil has explained, it will still work but I too have one of those oversized mobile broadband dongles and find it annoying that you can't use the second usb port because the dongle is so big. I now either use a usb hub or plug the dongle in to a usb cable. That way I can position the dongle for optimum signal strength, and get access to the adjacent usb port.
  • Yes, this should at least get the dongle out of the way.
