1450lmt won't charge while in the vehicle

I took my nuvi on a trip over the last few days and while it was plugged into the power outlet in my car, the nuvi battery died and I could not get the device to turn on even when plugged into car power.
I got home last night and hooked it up by the usb connector to my computer and it showed the battery fully discharged. I left it hooked up overnight and in the morning it was fully charged again. It's got the latest firmware update.
I checked the fuse on the plug and it was still good.
Shouldn't the GPS battery stay charged while it's running off the car power?

Check the car plug. Is there current at the socket? You can use a multi-meter to find that out (make sure the key is partially turned in the ignition). If there is power in the socket, is your power cord working? Attach some other device that take a micro usb plug and see it it is working/charging.

Sometimes there is crud/corrosion in the plug. Cleaning it is a good idea. Sometimes twisting the male plug inside the female part will get results and get a better contact.

SARLABS thanks for the reply. I put a meter on the car plug and I'm getting 12.12 volts. The indicator light on the power plug goes on with the ignition switch and both my new garmin and my old garmin boot up with the same power cord when the ignition is turned on. I twisted the plug around in the socket and there appears to be no connection weak spots.

Everything is working fine now that my battery is fully charged again, but it's a puzzle why it fully discharged even while plugged in so that it would no longer work at all. I did have the brightness on the display set at 100% but again, if it's plugged in should it have mattered?

I hope this was just an anomaly and won't reoccur. We'll see I guess.

Glad you are back in business. I've seen my phone cord wiggle itself out enough that contact was lost and the phone of course died after some time. As you said, hopefully a one time event.
