I recently bought a new Etrex Legenx Hcx unit on ebay. I loaded a new SD card in it and when I turned the unit off, it started to beep and wouldn't stop until i removed the batteries. Impossible to turn the unit back on when it was beeping too.
I read that this issue was due to some files created on the sd card from a Mac, and downloaded the app to remove them, and it works fine now.
Thing is, I had another Legend Hcx before this one and it didn't do it. I've used my mac to transfer my gpx track files all the times and didn't have any problem. The previous unit was muted so it was pretty much impossible to notice. But i'm quite sure that I could turn it on without problems, most of the time. Some times It wouldn't but after replacing the batteries it would work fine. But id definately didn't do it all the time.
Do you think it is a firmware issue? Should I return the unit and get another one instead?
