Did connect crash in the last few days?

Tried to upload last nights data and got some kind of error, like connect lost my login info. When I logged on via the web page, it was like it had lost my account ..showing me new registration terms& info. Once I got past that it looked like my data is there (whew!) but so far new data has not appeared.

Should I trust my data to the connect cloud? What is a good backup?

thanks...
  • Peronally, I wouldn't trust any backup you want to keep to a single point of failure. Ideally, you should follow the 3-2-1 backup rule

3 Backup copies of anything you want to keep.
    2 different storage media.
    1 offsite storage site.
  • I love my various garmin instruments and garmin connect is a terrific tool. But I'm amazed at how often the site is down. I almost cheer whenever I sit down to upload, and it actually works.

To date I have 1,775 activites successfully uploaded, going back to July 2004 (motionbased days). Although it is very frustrating when connect is down when attempting to upload my data, I could count on one hand how many times that has been. Ok, maybe 2 hands, but still pretty good percentages.
  • well, it's down again this morning. I think I go through a hand a month in failed uploads.

if you believe that the garmin site is a reliable and stable site, then you have a very different experience with it than I.
