Hi ,

I have a garmin 3490 with the latest SW version and latest maps. Since I purchased it I have noticed the following:
1) The system tends to reboot fairly often even when I don't have a driving destination entered (usually once a day). I do have the device paired with my Iphone 4S and sometimes it reboots during a call.
2) The time needed to calculate a path is extremely long. In cases where I am driving there are times where it simply can not calculate a route as by the time it gets one (60-90 seconds) I am already off that route so it has to recalculate. Several times I have had to stop on the side of the road for 2-3 minutes to get a route.
3) The traffic reciever is great WHEN it actually gets traffic. Many times I have hit traffic only to see (when I manually check) that the device claims no reception of traffic. When I unplug/replug the antenna (which is always in) then it locates the signal (sometimes after 2-3 replugs). This also never happened on previous units. I live in the Seattle metro area and the coverage map shows full coverage (which is correct after I force it to search again).

I have had Garmin GPS devices for the past 4 years. This is by far the slowest and least stable. The newest release (4.6 I believe) is less stable than previous versions.
I am impressed with the voice control which works far better than competitors but the stability and calculation times make it hard to use.
Is there something I can do to fix these issues? Is it possible the HW is defective or is this a normal complaint for this version.
