Just received my new Nuvi 2555LM. I won't turn off! I hold the button for 3 seconds and it states Turn off device? Cancel or Off. I press off, it stays off for about a minute or so and then it spontaneously comes back on. Anyone else have this problem....any solutions? other than return the darn thing and start over?
I think I figured it out. It was stuck in DEMO mode. It also said the GPS was off. Have no idea how it got there but here is what I found to do to fix it. And by the way, the manual says NOTHING about this.
1. do a hard turn off, press the off button for the 10 seconds
2. press the bottom right corner and turn back on.
3. keep pressing until you get a screen that says "do you want to erase user data"
4. release lower right corner and reply Yes
5. It will now reboot to the just out of the box mode
6. do the set up again.
It didn't erase my routes so that was good.
Pain in the patoot. This unit has 5 more weeks before we go to Costco again to redeem itself. My 755 worked just fine and the lifetime maps would be cheaper than this unit anyway. The main reason we updated was the lifetime maps and the 5" screen. I'm certainly not married to this puppy. Now to figure out just how it got into Demo mode so we don't do that again!
Same problem with my 2515.
I own a 2515 unit since last May. This problem appeared a month ago. When I turn off the gps it turns back on after about 10 seconds. When it goes to sleep mode, it remains so for 10 seconds, then turns back on. Tried hard reset, no luck. Checked demo mode, it's off. Changed the battery, same behavior. What else can I try?
P.S. When kept connected to car lighter then it sleeps to charging mode, then black screen. The unit works fine otherwise.
