Hi Guys,

I don't mean to come on here like a troll, but Garmin's fobbing off since I bought it back in December are doing my fruit in.

I have even copied BBC's Watchdog program as how Garmin have treated me is disgusting.

I have spent this month in communication with a Katherine Wheeler who was supposed to be sorting out an RMA, and today I get a message from Garmin apologising that due to a technical issue and could I please re-log my call on the website:mad:

I rang them today and Garmin still won't let me have an RMA on my device.

I was advise by a guy called Musa to update my software to 3.20 which I have done.

Now despite a hardware reset being performed the display is washed out and the ladder bars that used to be on the side in version 3.10 are no longer there:mad:

Does anyone know how to resolve these issues or should I just throw this £200 thing in the bin and buy a TomTom, as I believe these actually work??

    Don't buy a tom tom.

I had a 940 and it was excellent until it was stolen, replaced with a live 950.

Constantly reset itself over and over so replaced by Tom Tom, the next one then one sunday whilst driving from Manchester to london I got to just south of Birmingham and then it reset and started up, I was then in toxteth, liverpool, then in the middle of the Mersey Channel and then in the Irish Sea.

2 hrs later I arrived home, took the kids out of the car, emptied it and was just going switch it off for it to announce "you have arrived at your destination".

Replaced again with a live 1000, just as bad and after 7 months got my money back.

Also the maps were hopelessly out of date, the M8 had been open for months, prob 8 but the latest Tom tom maps did not have it and every time I tried to use it was diverted off another route even though Tom Tom promised up to date maps.

The live services were the problem I think but will never buy one again.

    Hi Charles

    Thanks for your reply

I previously had a TomTom and so I know their mapping is awful, that's why I gave Garmin a go.

Unfortunately my £200 Garmin unit re-boots itself randomly

    Doesn't report Cameras

    Routes you up dead ends

    Doesn't update Traffic

And if you try to divert from a traffic hotspot, just requeues you back into the same congested area.

I think you may have a point about the Live Services as this kind of shizzle never happened on the basic Sat Nav's

Anyhow the latest status is that Garmin still won't RMA my unit, they asked me to update the software to V3.20 and that has removed all the buttons from the screen making it a brick

I am looking into how I bought it and I am going to attempt to try and claim it back from my card provider and if I have to I will take legal advice as my warranty is now 50% through and I've been fobbed off by Garmin literally since day 1
