Corrupt FIT file?

Former Member

Hello, I have what I think is a corrupt .FIT file. When I try to upload it to connect I get "An error occurred with your upload. Please try again." with no other information. When trying it in training center I get "Garmin Training Center failed to read any data from these files : ". The file has been removed from the history on the device.

Would anyone be able to help me figure out if this is corrupted and if it can be fixed?

thanks!
  • @BUDDUCCI: please try the attached file - it's a repaired version of your file. I used the "Fit File Repair Tool" to fix it.

    regards

here you go - some data of lap 2 might be lost and I don't have the time to do manual corrections today. If you would like to use the Fit File Repair Tool to try a repair on your own, you can download a free trial version from http://fitfilerepairtool.info/download.

    All the best!

I also had my first bad data error today after 3 years without an issue. I don't have a windows machine, so I can't use the fit file fixer.

I'd love to know if there is something I did so that I can avoid it in the future.
  • @JJDIZUB:

attached you find a repaired version of your file. I hope I could rescue almost all of your data. The Fit File Repair Tool showed that there was some corrupt data at the end of the file.

I don't think you can do anything to prevent such data corruption except leaving the Edge at home when you do your workouts :). Seriously: One data corruption in 3 years is a very good average value.

    Another corrupt .FIT file?

I updated the firmware on my Edge 500 yesterday and then later in the day found I couldn't import my ride (had removed other data prior to update). I even tried manually importing the file so wondering if .FIT file is corrupt. I found this thread and downloaded the software only to find that it's a demo version which 'adjusts' data for second half of the ride... I really don't want to splash out on the full version as not sure this is the problem with my device. Could you please take a look at the attached and let me know if it's corrupt? As with JJDIZUB, this is the first time I've had this problem.
Would appreciate any help you can provide,

    Roger.

Sorry, I'm at work at the moment and cannot try to repair your file. If you want to try on your own and the Repair Tool doesn't do its job, you'll get your money back immediatly!
