Temperature/cadence spikes but only for time axis?

Hi,

For a while I have noticed that my temperature data plots shows occasional spikes to exactly 0.0C. Today on investigating the data closer I found that if I change the plot axis on Garmin connect site from Time to Distance then the spikes disappear!!!

I also noticed that the cadence also occasionally shows a spike to 0 at the same time as the temperature spike to 0 and this too disappears when changing to a distance axis. This is hard to spot amongst the normal 0 cadence values. On toggling between distance and the time axis they become more obvious

Is anyone else seeing that?

I also went to back to look at old data and also observed same thing but hadn't noticed a problem before. Sporadic but infrequent temp and cadence spikes at same time but not in distance plots!!

Seems like a website issue rather than a genuine temp sense problem. Tried Firefox and IE. Both the same.

Probably not connected but I also noticed that the average line for a chart is not shown (tick box option) if the graph axis is set to distance !! ??

I get the same thing it started happening around the start of the year. It also happened on Elevation for a while but that seems to have been fixed.

    Hi,

I had thought the behaviour wasn't always there and must have started relatively recently since my old data shows spikes which I am sure I would have noticed at the time.

Today after uploading my Edge activities the web site data analysis showed that I had a speed spike down to 0.0km/hr occurring exactly at the same time as a 0 cadence spike.

    14m 15s 31.9 km/h
    14m 16s 0.0 km/h
    14m 21s 31.2km/h

Again, on changing the axis to distance causes the erroneous spikes to disappear. My temp data didn't show any spikes at all this time.

So, it seems to me that maybe the erroneous spikes are due to a general problem with the website plotting data against a time axis.

My Edge data recording settings are as follows:

    Recording interval = smart.
Data averaging Cadence = do not include 0 cadence

Data plots do not show consistent time or distance intervals between chart points..

What is the sample rate for the smart mode option? Maybe this is the source of the problem?

    edited to add...

I think I am going crazy. today becuase I now cannot find any temp spikes but now most/all of my timing plots show a 0 speed spike at the same time as a 0 cadence spike. I am sure that wasn't there before!! I also noticed that this spike occurs more or less at the halfway point in my journey. I also have a distance alert at the half way point! Coincidence? I think not!!

From memory the temp spikes I have seen were not at the half way point...... like I said I feel like am going a bit crazy .......

I changed my distance alert to every 2km and now I have spikes to 0 in my cadence and speed plots at 2km intervals, again only when the plot axis is set to time!!! Is this normal behaviour ?
