Maps more expensive than unit

I am from South Africa. Can anyone at Garmin explain to me why it costs the same to purchase CN Maps for Western Europe as buying a completely new entry level Garmin unit (or other brand) in europe, with the maps already preloaded? Converted to Euro, it costs me about 100 Euro to buy the maps for Western Europe, and for 99 Euro I can buy a new entry level Garmin like the Nuvi 1340, with Western Europe preloaded. Ridiculous that for a trip to Europe I am better off buying a brand new GPS unit rather than purchasing the maps I need from Garmin, because they are so ridiculously priced.

Also, this forum keeps bumping me offline and I have to log in again. If I use the main login screen that comes up explaining that I am not logged in, it never accepts my login details (keeps saying I used an invalid username). Only if I log in at the top right of the forum page, it works. Your forum IT team needs a wake up. Even while typing this I was bumped offline again.

Also, the selections of headings are poor. Only sport, developers and software. What about other forum topics like automotive? General discussion? Feedback, comments and suggestion?

I am not too impressed.
