I purchased a new Nuvi1490LMT for a very important and time critical cross country trip coming up quick.
I followed instructions, downloaded the maps per the site (paraphrasing this step), but after many tries, was unable to get any data or maps on the unit.
Emailed tech support, and got a reply with several options.
Tried them all and failed again.
Today I raced home and spent over an hour on the phone with tech service where I gave control to the tech, who cleaned out the memory of things I don't need (ie languages, etc), and who walked step by step to reinstall the maps.
After seeing the install going smoothly for a length of time, we hung up both of us felt that it was working properly and I was sure of what I needed to do once it completed the download.
I was satisfied that all I needed to do was wait and then turn on the unit, check the map for the appropriate one and go.....
But still not one map to be found.
The map info page is BLANK.
I tried one more time to load the maps...exactly like the support did.
Still nothing.
I am now now able to call with my work schedule until nearly the middle of next week as support is only there the hours that I work. I cannot get to a phone during those hours.
What in the world can I do? Do I give up, send it back and get a Tom Tom?
I own three other Garmins, all handhelds and all of which have done a remarkable job. I've used nuvi before and knew it would fit the bill for this trip, and saved faithfully to afford it, but I am running out of time.
Suggestions? Advice? Support?
No matter where I look, I cannot get any info on the unit. No maps, no routes, no points of interest...Not one.
Help?
Thank you.
