etrex 30 doesn't record date and time of waypoint

There is no record of the time and date a waypoint was recorded.

This information is absolutely essential.

The GPX file has a date/time XML section but it seems to record the dat and time the waypoint was last edited by waypoint manager rather than the date and time the waypoint was actually recorded.

Further, Basecamp software does not seem to import or note the dat and time.

My GPSMap 76csx always had this essential information and basecamp shows the date and time on the "Notes" tab of the information page. I can't imagine any serious GPS excluding this information.

What setting do I need to change to get this essential information recorded?

    Waypoint creation date

    Hi Bullshark

I've been trying to get this function reinstated as well, since the creation date is pretty basic stuff! The 60 series entered it automatically, but anything after that seems to have dropped it.
The closest thing to a fix was to add the creation date into the comment field in Basecamp when editing waypoints, either singly or as a group, and then the date is permanently entered. The only problem is that if you have pre-existing multiple comments, and you edit a group of waypoints and add the date as a group, all the previous comments are overwritten by the phrase <multiple>! Pretty ridiculous! Anyway, if we all push for the creation date to be preserved like it is in tracks, then maybe it'll be reinstated.

    Good luck
