Route won't snap to roads?

Hi I'm trying to plan a road cycling route in Basecamp. According to the help video the planned route should 'snap' to the roads however I can't get this to work? I'm using the latest updated version of Basecamp and a Garmin etrex 30 device.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

BaseCamp Maps and Routes

I have the same problem as my route and data is a straight line between the beginning and end points or any waypoints in between.

I am wondering if this is caused by the map included in the downloaded Basecamp and I would have to purchase maps for the Garmin GPS unit for the unit to snap to a road? The Map in BaseCamp is Global Map.

Can I import a free map sample to try?

I am trying the Basecamp software before I decide to purchase a Garmon Nuvi 2555LTM.

Any information would be helpful.

Non Routable Map

Hi ... I'm a GPS newbie but it sounds like you're using the default map provided with the eTrex 30 which is non routable. At the end of the map name it will have NR indicating this. I hope this helps.
