A full 4 years separate Garmin's etrex H, and its recently released etrex 10, 20, 30 series. One of the things I loved about etrex H was its "nearest containing" search option, which greatly speeded up the search for points that you know are nearby.
For example, type "Weo" into this search option when you are in Herefordshire, and "Weobley" will appear in an instant. If, by contrast, you search for all cities, you need to type in the whole word, and it still takes ages to find... So getting to the point of this thread:
Why is this feature unavailable for etrex 10 - etrex 30 models?
I assumed the seriousness of this omission would be rectified quickly with the firmware updates. To my dismay, even after updating to firmware version 2.73 (currently in Beta), the feature is still absent! It makes searching for the items that surround you a complete hassle, especially when you have a large map installed.
Has anyone else noticed the vanishing feature? Google could find no other mention of it for me.
