Edit Swim Intervalls (Names, Stroketypes, Distances) in GC

Hi all!

I would very much welcome the ability to edit the names of the intervalls, the distance of each intervalls and the stroke types after uploading the swim session recorded by the 910XT to GC.

This might be usefull to record e.g. crawl kicking or other tech drills where the stroketype cannot be detected. Additionally the overall length of the intervall could be added manually. Laps would then be split evenly according to the pool size of the training session and the overall length entered by the user.

Additionally the 910 does not really recognize the stroketype if you swim with paddles. It seems reasonable for me, as my strokes with paddles are slower than without and hence recognized as backstroke. Nevertheless changing the stroketype in GC might be used to correct this.

Finally simply naming the intervalls would help to make GC more useable. '500m breathing every 5 strokes' seems more usable in comparison to 'intervall 7'

    edit stroke type

I agree, my stroke type is not always recognized correctly either.
  • +1 (times million :)) from me

Possibility to edit swimming style and merge two laps or mark them as drills would be just perfect. without it my training results are messy. Garmin? :)

    +1

Additionally I would like to specify stroke type or disable auto detect. This would mean I would not need to edit data to fix it. Often when I do sprint laps, it will detect my freestyle as butterfly.
  • Hi Richard / all.

I have read your post on editing swim files and want to ask you to do me a favour by sending me 1 or 2 of you swim fit files.
I'm developing the "Fit File Repair Tool" which is in use by approximately 50 people here in the forum to edit and repair fit files.
I'm thinking about developing a new version which is able to handle swim files. Could you provide me with some of your swim files to enable me to analyze the file structure of swim files? If you are willing to help me you could upload some files here or send them via email to [email protected]. That would be a great help for me - and maybe I will find a way to edit swim file data so you can modify your data before you upload them to Garmin Connect.

    Best regards

I would also love to see this! I purchased the Garmin swim on Sunday and tested it today. Lap count was fine but i only did 25 meters of backstroke and other were either freestyle or breast stroke. Most logged as BackStroke.
Not much point in using it to compare my strokes if it doesn't log them correctly. Very disappointing. I am currently trying to get my fitness back to when i use to compete many years ago and purchased this to keep track of my progress.
  • 9 years later and we still can't edit swim files on Garmin Connect?

  • What type of editing are you looking to do? Which watch do you have?

    Tagging

  • 1. Correct what stroke was used for each lap.

    2. Split laps that were counted as one.

    3. Combine laps that were split incorrectly.

    4. Add custom name for drills.

    I have the Forerunner 935.
