ALternative Power Sources for Nuvi 50LM

I have a 1990 Corvette with a JVC XR810 radio installed. The radio has a USB port in the front. Has anyone tried to power their Garmin using the USB port on their radio using that short USB cord that comes in the box?

You need special cable to put nuvi into navigations mode (or an Asian model of nuvi, where connection mode is configurable).

With supplied cable you should be able to play music files from nuvi memory ;)

Thanks POPEJ. :cool: Any idea whether the USB connection will charge the nuvi at the same time or do I need to watch the battery usage?
