Edge 800 not picking up cadence monitor

No matter how I try, I simply can't get the 800 to detect the cadence monitor. I have a speed and cadence sensor type, but there is no ID shown in the Cadence ID section under the bike sensors menu. Any ideas as to how I can remedy that?
