Montana 600 Battery issue

Former Member

I just got my 600 and everything was working ok for about a week. I could plug the unit into the wall charger or usb off the computer and the included battery would charge. All of a sudden it will not charge the battery or even turn on no matter what I do. I have tried plugging into the wall and usb and as soon as you unhook the cable the Montana goes off. I have made sure the battery makes a good connection but that is not it. I can put aa batteries in and it works fine. Any advice?

    Hi David
Sorry, I'm not replying with an answer to your problem - I am getting the same issue as you reported and wondered, after all this time, if you had resolved the issue yourself, and if so, what was the solution.
    Thanks and Regards
    Charlie

Hi David (and Charlie) , I also have recently purchased a Montana 600 and my battery will not charge either from the wall or my PC or my Mac. AA batteries function OK. Did you get any solution so far? Would be pleased to hear it., Bob.

I don't see any new posts on this subject, has anything been done to fix it? I've got the same problem on my 650T but I can't even get the AA batteries to work so I'm really screwed. Considering that I now own a $600 paper weight, I'm not a real happy camper! I wish TomTom would come out with a hand held GPS. I've owned several of their automobile ones and they always work and the company backs them if there is a problem. Garmin sure is blowing this one...

I have this same problem. Has anyone got this issue fixed. Garmin wants me to send it in and pay $180 to fix it. I am not happy with that. I have had this unit a 1 1/2 years used it maybe 7 times. Spent $40 on new battery now they want me to drop $180 to try to fix it. Seems like a lot of people have this same issue they should step up and fix them at no charge.
  • You’ve posted this in the Garmin Connect forum which has nothing to do with your query. Sorry but unfortunately as yet there isn't a forum here for device issues like this. Please contact Product Support

Alternatively try http://forums.gpsreview.net/categories/garmin-auto-forum-garmin-nuvi-forum or http://www.gpspassion.com/forumsen/forum.asp?FORUM_ID=172&sortfield=lastpost&sortorder=0&whichpage=1 where you will get help from experienced users who may be able to help. So far I've had no charging issues with my Montana.
