Can't Manually Load GPX Files

This may be a two topic discussion.

First, I tried to load a track directly from my 62sc into Connect and it only grabs current tracks. I couldn't load a track I saved this past Saturday.

So, I figured I'd go with the manual solution. I copied the GPX file off my unit, then tried to upload it into Connect.
I got "An error occurred with your upload. Please try again."

So, I poked around the FAQ and found this:
How do I upload a file from Garmin BaseCamp to my Garmin Connect Account?
1. Open Garmin BaseCamp.
2. Select desired activity.
4. Select File, Export, and Export Selection.
3. Save file as GPS eXchange Format (.gpx) to your desktop.
5. At Garmin Connect, go to Upload.
6. Select the Manual Upload button.
7. Browse to the file saved on your Desktop and select that.
8. Click Upload activities from file button.

rather than manually copying the GPX file, I followed the above Export directions. Attempted to manually upload the GPX file and got the same "An error occurred with your upload. Please try again." error.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

I've had the same issues?? did you get any answers or make any headway??
  • Here's what I found when I ran into this problem:

You cannot use Saved activities (that is, saved with the 60CSx track Save command) if you hope to upload it to Garmin Connect. Connect computes speed, and for that it needs the timestamps. Were it not for this omission, you might be able to Import a saved track from the 60CSx with BaseCamp (which is the only way to get to a Saved file, BTW), Export it to a Windows folder, do some manual editing with Notepad++, and then do a manual upload to Connect. But there is no way to create missing timestamps so you’re stuck. The bottom line is there are only two ways to get tracks from the 60CSx to Connect:
    1. Upload an ACTIVITY LOG
    2. Set the 60CSx to log the activity to the microSD card as well as main memory, then set the 60CSx to USB Mass Storage and use the Manual upload feature of Connect to grab it off the microSD card.
Apparently, the 60CSx team did not anticipate use of a saved file for anything other than generating a display or a route.

    possible solution

Not sure if you guys have been able to solve the issue, but if you open your GPX file with a text editor, check if you time stamps are all the same date, if that is not the problem then make sure that you have close tags for all opening tags on the file. I use runkeeper and am manually importing gpx files, i had the same error and found that the "</trkseg>" was missing toward the end of the file.

    hope that helps you...
