depth readings on oregon 400c

Anyone any idea how the depth readings on the Oregon 400c work? Where ever I click I typical get something like "18ft max max". What does this mean? What is the "max max"? How come I also see this inside the 6ft depth profile? Is the depth reading corrected for the tides?

Screen dump illustrating issue

Here are two screen dumps illustrating the issue. It seems that the depth is totally wrong. I installed the latest firmware....
