I am still having problems getting my new Nuvi 40LM to work fully. I can not upload tracks to my pc using MapSource or BaseCamp. Both programs report a problem with the current.gpx file. I have exchanged several emails with Garmin support, and had a couple of long conversations with them. It seems to me my problems started when the Nuvi 40LM updated it's software from version 2.1 to version 2.2. The last response from Garmin support offered to exchange my unit. I have already done one exchange with the store, so I don't have a lot of faith the next exchange will work. Any one else having a similar problem?
Garmin has provided a work around to allow uploading waypoints and tracks from the Nuvi 40 to Mapsource or Basecamp. Here is Garmin's solution;
"I believe I have a solution to the problem of the corrupt current.gpx file. The Nuvi creates or updates the file each time it turns on. It has a lot of data in it so it takes quite a while for the Nuvi to finish writing the file after it turns on. Turn the Nuvi on and wait 5 minutes before you connect it to Basecamp. Given this much time the unit should be able to create a valid file and Basecamp should see it."
