I have an etrex 30 with topo 100k installed. Instead of a tan map background it's black. It also does not show shaded relief. The setting is set to 'show if available'
If the background is black, you probably have it set for night mode. Since I don't have an eTrex 30, not sure how to change this but it will be in the settings or setup menu somewhere - probably under the display heading. If you have enabled shaded terrain, I'm not sure why it doesn't show. I assume you're using a new version of the 100k topo's - the really old version (from 10 years ago maybe) can't do that. Since the eTrex 30 is a new model, this might just be a bug of some kind.
