Can someone tell me why the forum recognizes my password when I log in on the main Web page for the forum but not when I try to post a reply. It keeps prompting to log in me when I try to reply and then refuses to recognize my password. I'm using a Mac Pro with Lion 10.7.2 and it does the same with Safari and Google Chrome. I've almost given up trying to access this forum for this problem.
I am experiencing exactly the same problem. In order to post this reply, I had to ignore the login request that appears when I attempt to reply, and instead use the login form in the page header. This would be a show-stopper for anybody a little on the less technology-tolerant side.
For the record, it happens in Firefox 8, and also in Chrome 17.0.963.26 dev-m.
I also use all browsers and the login and re-logging in and staying logged in on this forum SUCKS and is one of the worst I've been involved in. I can't help but think these forums would be MUCH more active if they had a decent user forum and experience, but contributing here is like pulling hair out at times.
I posted the same issue and everybody kept saying that is my computer/set up and no-one could say anything constructive :( Its not a Mac thing as I tried at work (see last entries to my thread below) and it happens also on my W7 PC. I hope they take this issue seriously and sort it out!!
What's sad is that every time I want to log in to post, comment or reply I've had to have my password reset and have a temporary one sent to me. Then I use that for the session. If my session expires, the password doesn't work again so I just have it reset and do the whole thing all over again.
The funny thing is, this is actually a really good form of security! Hahaha! A bit overkill, though, for a forum on our GPS devices. :-P
I get this intermittently on one old Linux box with a browser out of the Ark, and occasionally on Chrome under Vista, which generally has a bit of an attitude problem towards logging me into a lot of sites (Training Peaks in particular - I've given up and just user another browser to get in there). Clearing cookies fixes it, for a while at least. I think the problem is the cookie that registers 5 failed logins not being properly reset (timestamping problem maybe, I dunno, web stuff is not my specialty).
I think the login is broken for replies.
The only one working is the header one. Furthermore you need to check the "remember me" checkbox, if not, you are constantly unlogged.
The same on all my Linux computers, Arch or Gentoo, Firefox or Chromium, I've even tried on a W7 box...
Also problems overhere with Firefox on W7 and Safari on Mac.
Blocked several times for 15 minutes because I should have putted a wrong password to much, but I'm pretty sure the usename and password are correct.
Even with IE7 I got problems when i didn't slected "Remember Me" :(
It looks like this problems is not a user problem, but a Forum problem.
Please Garmin check this issue with the techies and solve it, except I you want us to go away from this forum.
I can only log in from home on win7 machine with Chrome. Sometimes my phone will log me in but more often it does not. At work I have to type in user name and password then get told I have used my quota and have to wait 15 minutes. Thats after one attempt!
