Automovitive Model Inqury

I currently own a Garmin GPSMap 60CSx and I’m using City Navigator North America NT 2011.1 to create routes, geocaching, hiking, etc. :D

I want to upgrade to a unit that specifically made for automotive use. Can someone here tell me what model supports uploaded maps from City Navigator North America NT 2011.1, if any

Thanks…

All nuvi's come with preloaded maps, unlike your 60CSx. In theory you could upload your CN NA 2011.1 maps to a SD card (in the nuvi) but you'd need an unlock code for them to work. The latest CN NA release is 2012.30, and you'd be able to update the nuvi to this for free (Garmin has a one-time free map update policy for nuvi's) and install these on your PC at the same time. You'd then have 2011.10 on the 60CSx and 2012.30 on the nuvi and both on your PC. When creating routes etc you could then select the appropriate map for the device. Or you could purchase 2012.30 for your 60CSx.

Personally I no longer use my 76CSx (a 60CSx in a different form factor) for automobile use as the 1490T is more suited to this. However I also have CN NA 2011.10 for the 76CSx so I have an auto use option if the 1490T dies.

In short buy a nuvi for your vehicle and be happy. Use the 60CSx as a backup or for outdoor use. BTW I recommend getting Lifetime Map Updates for your nuvi (some models come with that such as the 1490LMT).
