Where has heart rate data gone?

With the latest update to the website the Activities screen and reports no longer display heart rate data. If I look at the details of a particular activity I can see all the heart rate information. Anybody else experiencing this problem?

Same problem in Spain : /
  • On my Mac I could not see any information in the Dashboard preview window last night, however on a PC this morning all these details are viewable. Heart rate data from previous exercises uploaded to Garmin Connect have been preserved but can only be seen when viewing on a PC.

It would appear that my heart rate data from the exercise session I did last night (potentially around the time of the change to Garmin Connect) has not transferred up to Garmin Connect. Either that or it did transfer but it is not viewable. See http://connect.garmin.com/activity/132071895 as the example.

Hopefully Garmin are looking into this issue now so that they can fix. From my experience it does seem to affect operating systems differently.
  • This article from the BBC in relation to the use of the Google maps API and charging thereof may be the reason behind the work that Garmin are having to do on Connect right now: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-15523050

Google Maps to charge for usage

Users of Google Map links for their websites will be charged for heavy usage of the service, it has been revealed.

From 1 January 2012, Google will charge for the Google Maps API service when more than the limit of 25,000 map "hits" are made in a day.

Websites, especially travel firms, use Google Maps to link customers to a view of the destinations they inquire about.

Google is rumoured to be charging $4 per 1,000 views in excess of the limit.

Google maintains the high limit of 25,000 free hits before charging "will only affect 0.35% of users".
    'Secure future'

Google said it was aware that developers needed time to evaluate their usage, determine if they were affected and then take action as appropriate.

"We understand that the introduction of these limits may be concerning," said Thor Mitchell, product manager of the Maps API at Google.

"However, with the continued growth in adoption of the Maps API, we need to secure its long-term future by ensuring that even when used by the highest-volume for-profit sites, the service remains viable. "
