hi just got the monatana out of the box, charged, installed
Base camp for MAC ,Transferred some GPX and MPS tracks points and plugged it out of the MAC( Gpx and MPS files were originally converted from KML). The Montana will not start afterwards. I went into Mass Storage mode and Deleted the GPX files ( no mps files found) and tried the Hard Reset but still the Montana is Not Starting

Thank you for your assistance

I have had the same problem. I removed the battery and the external power (if any) for several minutes and then replaced the battery. It then started OK. This problem may be caused by disconnecting the USB port without first "ejecting" the USB memory with the Windows USB control panel.

Changing the subject, I would like to hear from any Montana owners who use the serial port with NMEA or TEXT_OUT enabled. I can't get either to work after a lot of trying. The GARMIN SERIAL protocol does work up to a point

    Regards

    Montana fail to start

I have had Montana for 6 months and after a couple of months it failed to start (just got splash screen then unit died). Returned it for a refurbished unit. It has just failed again in the same way. Unit is being returned again for refurbished unit. Garmin say it isn't a type fault.

Did you solve the problem?? I`m having the same problem in my montana
  • Everybody is having trouble with GARMIN. There are a couple different forums on this battery problem. I've got the same thing. I'm sitting here now with it running as long as I keep it plugged in but as soon as I disconnect it, it shuts off and won't start back up. I'd be happy with a refurbished one. $600 for it and it only lasted one season, maybe a dozen times using it. Sure wish TomTom would come out with one... There is also talk of a class action suit from guys on another forum here on this web site for the same problem with their watches that won't stat up again. Garmin sure are a pile of junk any more!
