Nuvi 3790T would not turn on.

Dug out the box and in the Quick Start Manual I tried Resetting the Device and that fixed my problem. Just hold the power button for at least 10 seconds.

Unit was in the car dock when it displayed a couple of low battery warnings even though the dock was connected via the cigar lighter and the red power light was on. A few times it displayed the unlock pin page even though it was still giving audio directions. When I turned onto a different freeway, part of the route marker and the road itself disappeared.

I decided to cycle power and after I selected OFF, game over. Could not get the Nuvi to power on with the power button, returning it to the car docking station, or connecting it to my computer.

Thanks for the info, tried for an hour to get started, same problems as you. Pressed the start button for around 15 seconds and Hey Presto. Thank heavens for Google.
  • Or just read page 3 of the manual :p
  • Glad I could be of help, Chris.

Don't understand why that important piece if information is not in the Troubleshooting section of the manual, but two little sentences buried on the bottom of page 3 in the Getting Started section.
That's why I started this thread over 2 years ago.
  • Hardly buried. It's on page 3 as it's to do with powering the device on. It's how it works. It's not 'troubleshooting' :)

It's also clearly explained on page 10 of the quick start manual

Incidentally it applies to numerous Garmin devices, not just the 37xx series.
