GPSMAP 62st new picture viewer

Just updated my device to v3.50 and am very glad to see the newly added picture viewer that allows to see pictures like on a iPhone, zooming in and out and with vertical/landscape view.

BUT I noticed that when viewing the very same (geo-tagged) pictures directly from the map they continue to be seen in the same old way with no zooming/landscape features.

Wouldn't it make sense to add the same functionalities when viewing pictures whether they are accessed from the picture viewer through the main menu or directly from the map?
  • New picture viewer may be interesting for stamp collectors, but disabling support for old barometer in new firmware is not a good idea ;)
  • Can't navigate to picture if not on a road

Put in a picture which had GPS coordinates. Said go and it said navigation data not available for this position and gave up. Couldn't even get a direct route to it. Need a facility which says show on map and goto direct
  • How do you show on map on device

I couldn't find out how to do it

You have to set your route settings to be direct/offroad then it ignores the routing, but it would be better if the routing got you to the nearest road point. Can we consider that as a feature upgrade??
  • There is no firmware 3.50 and it was never released, if you believe in change log ;)
Upgrade to 3.60 to get barometer functionality back.
  • I am running 3.50 right now. Biggest thing that ticked me off with that particular move: it hid all of my tracks. At least it wasn't the fiasco that upgrading to 3.40 was: all that uploading everything to BaseCamp, deleting your GPX folder, downloading everything from BC... took 3 days to rename all of my waypoints and reset the appearance of my tracks. btw: WHEN, oh WHEN will BC allow identically named waypoints and keep track of their uniqueness internally by -- I dunno -- maybe lat and long?
  • and now, 3.60... Still didn't shake this 62st from its nasty habit of suddenly shutting off for no reason. Only occasionally, but that still isn't something that allows for a lot of confidence. Seemed to begin after upgrade to 3.40.
