I inadvertently deleted the "Recreational" profile from my GPS. I e-mailed Garmin Support and they advised me to copy a profiles folder attachment (which was not attached to the e-mail). One lesson I have learned from this experience is that such adjustments need to be made while the device is attached to a computer. I accidentally deleted ALL my waypoints by trying to delete one waypoint while working with the unit not attached to a computer. Upon pressing "Enter" all the waypoints disappeared. Fortunately, they are all saved in Base Camp. I have already reset the device to the factory pre-sets without it being attached to the computer, but it did not restore the Recreational Profile. Does anyone know where the "profiles folder" is located online within Garmin's website? I know this question sounds convoluted, but I wish Garmin would put something in bold print, all caps, that the device needs to be connected to the computer before attempting certain functions. Thanks much for your patience. :)
I know it may be a bit late but before you do anything else back up your GPS to your computer/laptop. In explorer open your garmin device, should have a blue triangle next to it, and copy the entire contents to a folder of your choice. Now do the same for your SD card if it came with one, this should show up as a different drive letter. This means if you accidentally delete anything you can copy it back. I attach a copy of the recreational profile, just copy it into the profile folder on the device using explorer and I assume it will work. I have had to send it as a zip file as attach goes not recognise a profile file so you'll have to unzip it first. Good luck
