1490T reboots every 30 seconds

I bought a factory refurbished 1490T yesterday and charged the battery for five hours.
The unit works fine on battery. When I plug in the heavy duty "traffic" cigarette
charger, the unit will start to reboot and keep doing this until it is unplugged.
The charger cord is not pulling on the plug, I have it ty-wrap'ed down to prevent this.( not over tight)
I went to Garmin.com and uploaded the latest software and maps. All went well. It still will malfunction when the battery charger cord is plugged into the unit.
I will pick up a different type of battery charger and see if that is the problem.
Is there a better fix? I really need this GPS for a two week job starting this Sunday.
Thank you.

I purchased a new USB cigarette power supply and the problem is gone. Garmin service was clueless on the problem with the 'Traffic" adapter power supply. Somehow, the adapter causes the unit to reboot over and over again.
The unit now works as it should, sans the traffic antennae.
Maybe this tip will help others with the same problem.

Most 3rd party USB power supplies will cause a nuvi to continually reboot as you describe (the unit thinks its connected to a PC and attempts to enter mass storage mode. Since this fails it restarts--again and again). Garmin's adapters contain some circuitry to prevent this and it appears yours was faulty.
