HELP Please - Nuvi 265WT Screen Problem

Former Member

I went over a pothole yesterday, and my Nuvi 265WT popped out of the mount and fell on the dashboard, the screen went off, and now it's come back on, with an almost white display, and the maps and info are very faint.

I'm thinking that a solder joint has come adrift somewhere as the unit is fine otherwise, but difficult to read.

As I'm located out in Cambodia, there is zero chance that I can send the unit in for repair, as the cost would be more than the $127 I paid for this new!
And then there's the fact that a repaired unit being sent to Cambodia, will be quite likely to go 'missing' in the post (VERY common).

Is there a service manual or circuit diagram anywhere that I can use to pinpoint the problem?
We have a very good tech dept here in air traffic control, which has repaired SMD discreet devices for me in the past, so I think that this unit will be no problem.

**UPDATE**

We checked over the unit, and all the connectors were disconnected and reseated, a visual check of all ribbon cables made and reseated.
PCB main board visually check, no apparent components damaged.

The screen is showing a 'misty' display, apart from the last 10 lines at the bottom (see photos).

Any ideas will be gratefully received.

The unit works fine apart from the display which is difficult to see in daylight.

Thanks
