I've had my unit for a 3790 for a month now, and the Double-tap lock screen has never came up when I after waking up from sleep mode. The 3790 only stated displaying the Double-tap lock screen after I selected a background image for the first time. Now I have to double-tap a button to get to the navigation screen, after waking it from sleep.
I deleted the background image to revert back to where the 3790 would just pop to the navigation screen when I woke it up. Apparently when you delete the picture from the picture viewer the 3790 still holds onto that image until you pick another image from the picture viewer and make that the background.
After calling support and after 30 minutes they were unable to help me.
Why is this feature not able to be turned off? I don't get this feature; I press the 3790 power button for a second or two to either place it into sleep mode or wake it. What do I need this feature?
Does anyone know how to set the 3790 back to where you don’t have to double-tap when it is brought back out of the sleep mode?
Maybe there is a way to remove the background picture from the 3790?
Also, if you have the 3790 into the car cradle like it’s supposed to be, go into sleep mode, and then wake it up. The window that requires double-tapping is sideways.
It is just extra steps I don’t need to be taking. It’s a little ridicules to return the device just fix this one thing, but I place it into sleep mode a lot while doing my business.
Also why is there no voice command to power down, or go into sleep mode?
Update: It seems that that the Double-tap screen ONLY appears when the unit is out of the vehicle cradle. As long as it's in the cradle, weather it's on battery power or plugged in, the Double-tap does not appear until it's removed from the cradle. Garmin tech support couldn't even tell me this.
