nuvi 3790 LMT random screen touches and other issue

Hello,

i have recently purchased a 3790 LMT (as an upgrade to my former nuvi 200W), which turns out to be a great product with just a few issues. I was wondering if anyone here is so kind and able to help me out with:

1. random screen touches (without me actually touching it)
- after i set a route on my device and i am on the route the device display randomly reacts as if it has recieved a "touch" (like if on the middle of the map it switches from 3d view to top down view; or if it was on any of the buttons going to their respective menus) Multiple such "random touches" inhibit me seeing the map or even manage to change the destination. Is there any workaround to this or any way to lock the screen like old nuvi devices could?

2. slightly changing destination when searching for an address
- when i enter a destination by searching an address and it displays it on the map, on my old nuvi 200w, i was able to touch on a nearby street/location/POI and set that as a new(actual) destination. on this 3790 when i view result on map i could not find a way to change the destination by touching another point on the map. how is it possible to attain this functionality?

Hi.
I'm worry "Into Sports" isn't good place for 3790 series problems.

I suggest:
1. Download WebUpdater software and check newer firmware for your nuvi.
2. After updating device perform "master reset".
3. Check again if your problems still occur.

Before "master reset" copy file current.gpx from your nuvi to PC. It's the file with your saved waypoints.
After "master reset" copy mentioned file back to nuvi as: temp.gpx

BTW You can also perform touch screen tests & calibration on your nuvi.

thank you for your reply, i noticed there are other 3790 threads in this section as i could not find an automobile section that's why i posted here.

Webupdater currently says there are no new firmwares for my device and that there are no extras to download at the moment.

may you direct me to the procedure of how to perform a "master reset" please ?

How can i perform touch screen calibration ? is it from my device directly or do i need to hook up with some software on my PC ?

Let's try this way:

37xx series "master reset":

To perform a master reset on a nuvi 3400 or 3700 series device, hold the device horizontally and follow the steps below:

Note: A master reset will erase all waypoints and favorites and will restore your device to the default factory settings. If you would like to back up your favorites you can find instructions to do so ">here">here.
Start with the device turned off and unplugged from power
Power on the device
When the first copyright screen appears press and hold the lower right hand corner of the display portion of the touchscreen
Remove your finger from the touchscreen when "Erase all user data?" appears
Touch Yes
The device will now be reset. Follow the on-screen prompts then place the device in an area with a clear view of the sky until it acquires satellites.

Recalibration of the touchscreen.
It seems there is no touchscreen recalibration on nuvi 37xx series:

The nuvi 3400 and 3700 series devices do not have a manual touchscreen recalibration procedure. Because these devices have a capacitive touchscreen, they are automatically calibrated each time the system boots up and as the temperature varies.
If your nuvi's touchscreen is not calibrated properly, please update your nuvi's system software using the ">WebUpdater">WebUpdater program.

anyone knowing any solution to my issue #2?
