Montana 650 fails to create an autoroute at all under certain conditions

Hi all

I have a Montana 650t which has the following "fault". Autoroute will not work under the following conditions...

If I use it in a non-automotive profile and create a DIRECT route, then stop navigating the direct route and change to Autommotive profile and try to make an autoroute with 'Activity' set to 'Automobile Driving' and 'Calculation method' set to prompt, I get the prompt ok, but whichever way I answer (save time or save distance) I then still get only a DIRECT route (i.e. the autoroute just fails to work).

If I select save time or save distance beforehand in the menus themselves it works ok, it only fails to work when I set the menus to prompt me for the calculation method.

But surely this should work. Is this just my unit that's faulty, or yet another Garmin bug?

Can anyone help please ?

I have contacted Garmin's "support" staff (twice now) but haven't heard anything back.

Thanks in advance.
