Trouble upgrading my 405 to sw version 2.8

Hi,

It seems I'm stuck on version 2.5 of the firmware. For some reason when I download the newer versions, I get a message that the new version was downloaded successuflly to the ANT agent for transfer to my device.... but it's never transfered. Is there a way to force that transfer?

Thanks

Mathieu

I'm having a similar problem, except I get "update failed". Upgrading from 2.7. I tried changing the <minor> tag in the GarminDevice.xml to 7 instead of 8 (which it seemed to set before the update failed) since this fixed the 2.5 to 2.7 update problem many had, but no joy.

Just performed the following on OS X Lion with success. Use at your own risk.

    1) Login to myGarmin and View Registered Products.
    2) Choose the Forerunner 405 and note the Unit ID #.
    3) In the Finder, hold down the Option key then select Go, then Library
    4) Navigate to Application Support > Garmin > Devices > then locate the folder that is titled with the Unit ID.
    5) Move that folder (the one with the Unit ID) to the desktop for safe keeping. (Keep the Finder window open for reference.)
    6) Within Garmin Ant Agent remove Forerunner 405 and re-Pair the device.
    7) Watch a new folder with the same Unit ID be created within the Finder window.
    8) Login into Garmin Connect and attempt to update from 2.5 to 2.8. IF like my experience, it will tell you that you are already at the latest version.
    9) Go back to the Finder window and edit the GarminDevice.XML file changing all instances of Minor revision 80 to 50. Save the file in the same location.
    10) Go back to Garmin Connect and attempt to update from 2.5 to 2.8. This time it will state that it send a new revision to the Ant device. Note that a file called Update.UDR (or something like that is created in the Finder window) and also a file called Forerunner405_280.RGN is created.
    11) Allow the watch to update via the Ant device. Approximately 8-10 minutes later the watch updated. (After this occurs the UPD file and RGN file both disappear in the Finder window.)
    12) Verify that the version number is now 2.80 on the watch Settings > About. Still not sure...?
    13) Verify the update worked by going to Settings on the watch and verify that Santiago time zone exists. Still not sure...?
    14) Let the watch sit for a few minutes and the watch will go into PowerSave mode with a countdown timer.

(Steps 13 and 14 were both feature updates that occurred in 2.7. )

    15) Still not sure...?
    16) Setup Autoscrolling, then start a Workout. Let it Autoscroll a few times, then press Stop button. The AutoScroll will also stop until the workout is resumed.

(Step 16 a feature update that occurred in 2.8.)

    Good luck!
