Cannot see topo details when hiking

Hi All,

I'm a new user to both Garmin and using a GPS (that is not on my phone) and have a GPSMAP 60CSx and purchased the Topo U.S. 24k Northeast map as well.

When viewing the "Ready to Navigate" page in the Boston area I can see the topographical details (elevation, ponds, etc.). I took it hiking with me yesterday in the White Mountains and could only see a dashed/dotted line of the trail I was hiking but no topographical info. I looked at the menu choices and didn't see anything that would indicate turning on or off those types of details.

When viewing the detail in the mapping software on my computer (which I used to download the maps to my device for the same area I was hiking) I could see all the topo detail.

What am I missing?

Any help would be appreciated.

Go to the map page and hit menu. Now scroll right to the fifth icon and enable your new map. I'm writing from memory so I may be slightly inaccurate, but that should put you on the right track.
