Full Export / backup

I can't seem to find a way to export all of my data from Garmin Connect. I have 3 years of historical information here and I'd like to be able to have a copy myself. Right now the only way seems to be to export single activities which is going to take forever. Anyone figure this out?
  • That's the way it with Garmin Connect. A common suggestion that is often made here is to use Garmin Training Center as a local backup that you control, or archive the .fit or .tcx files yourself and make your own backup.
  • the main issues with your proposed solution is that my data is now 3 yrs old in Garmin Connect (and going) and I can't retro-actively get it from there to the desktop ... that's what I am trying to figure out. Single activity exports are going to take forever.
  • I hope you get a back up sooner than later.

In the old days there was garmin motion based, in many ways far superior and with more features than connect.

On the migration over 100 of my activities were "lost" although garmin promised this would not happen and chastised us for daring to ask when the migration would be completed (never!)

I now upload my activities into Ascent ( a mac programme but there are pc/web others,) as well as garmin training centre (from where workouts can be made).
I just let Connect uploads look after themselves from the Ant uploads ( which at present isn't working.. another good reason to save your data else where)
Ant does store you workouts locally so it may be an idea to see what is already on your computer. I'm not sure how long the fit files reman, but I have some going back to may (when I had my 310 replaced.)

+1 for a user friendly local backup feature, especially given the latest Connect update and the new 310XT firmware. My confidence in the Garmin software department hasn't really increased lately...

If you have a 310XT, the files will be on your computer anyway

True, but FIT files do not include the names, descriptions and categorization that I added to the activities in Connect. Pretty essential part of the data imo.
And I also would like to backup the workouts that I logged with my previous watch, a 405.

In that case, get a program that you can run on your computer. If the data is that important, seems a bit strange relying on total strangers to look after it.

SportTracks is good for Windoze, RubiTrack for OS X

Exactly. That is why local backup functionality for Connect would be nice :)
  • There is a program that someone made back in the motionbased days that does it for the Training center files with a single click.

I just use that as I sync to both weekly. PM if anyone is interested. Works really well. Can't find it online.
