Permanently delete tracks in Garmin 62s

Hi

I'm using a Garmin 62s and trying to permanently delete the tracks it makes while turned on. If I connect the unit and open Basecamp I can see the tracks. From here I select the tracks I want to delete and then delete them, they seem to have been deleted from the unit, Basecamp even asks if I'm sure I want to permanently the tracks. Now, if I right click on the GPS icon in Basecamp, select eject, unplug the unit, and then plug it back in all the tracks are back on the unit.

It's becoming quite confusing following where I am when using the unit, dodging the tracks constantly. I want them gone. Anyone know how to permanently delete them? I've tried looking for gpx files in the unit itself through Windows Explorer, without much luck, once I delete everything in Basecamp then all relevant files have been deleted, until I plug the unit back in or use it...

Thanks in advance
