How to cut the end of my activity

Hello everyone,

Sometime I forgot to stop my forerunner 110:D

Are there any ways to edit the imported data in Garmin Connect in order to remove the last part of the activity which is not relevant and thus destroys the average values?

Many thanks for your assistance,
Aphiwat

    Hi,

I'm used to have the same problem. What I do is to export the xml (tcx) file using the training center and then using a text/xml editor I edit it removing the wrong section. Then using xpath I calculate again the summary information. Eventually I import the file back to the training center and then to my garmin.

If you need an help let me know :)

    Cheers.

    L.

You can use TCX Converter to remove the section at the end of the tcx file (it will automatically recalculatte the summary information). You can then export this history file and do a manual upload to GC.
  • Is this still the only way to do this?
Would be nice to find the placce on the map and select 'chop'

I can see an option to amend the time and distance, does changing one of these amend and recalculate everything or is it just amending the header info?
  • Export file to strava, under tools in strava select crop run, then export file before uploading to Garmin.
  • You can use TCX Converter to remove the section at the end of the tcx file

So develop a GUI for TCX Converter. You go, tiger. Nice ideas require execution and investment, instead of just waiting around to be the beneficiary.

I was hoping there was a way to do this in garmin connect. It seems pretty unnecessary to have to export file, whichever way the editing is done.

I am dreadfully sorry to have wasted your valuable time on this though. You are clearly a very important person and I apologise unequivocally for bothering you.

Isn't the way that products get features through users requesting them? Just because somebody wants something that doesn't mean that they should do it themselves. Just about everything we use is the result of somebody identifying a market need and implementing it.

If enough people want the feature, somebody might decide that it is worth their time and investment to provide the feature - but generally, somebody needs to ask for something so that the demand can be assessed!

    Sometimes.

Just because somebody wants something that doesn't mean that they should do it themselves.
It doesn't mean someone else should develop and/or implement a solution for them, either, especially if there is no commercial arrangement involved for the incremental change/benefit.

I don't see anyone offering to pay Garmin (more) for that feature, either directly through Garmin Connect service subscription fees or indirectly through the purchase price of physical appliances (e.g. sports watches or cycling computers). I also don't see anyone identifying the feature as a critical differentiator, such that if Garmin refuses to provide it, he/she will stop buying Garmin and switch to a different brand.

Just about everything we use is the result of somebody identifying a market need and implementing it.
Many things, especially in software, were prototyped and/or developed by users themselves who wanted capabilities (or features, levels of performance, customisability, convenience, etc.) not supported by suppliers in the market at the time – and some of the successful implementations get commercialised and/or released to a wider user base eventually.

I don't see why (prospective) users should not go ahead and develop their own solutions. For example, if I want certain features on a watch face, or in a (replacement/alternative) Heart Rate widget on the FR235, why should I expect service from either Garmin or other Connect IQ developers, instead of attempt to develop such things in Connect IQ myself?

If enough people want the feature, somebody might decide that it is worth their time and investment to provide the feature - but generally, somebody needs to ask for something so that the demand can be assessed!
Sure, but this discussion forum as a whole and this thread in particular are the ‘wrong’ place to be making official Garmin Connect feature requests/suggestions to the company.
  • Another very simple method of correcting your issue to some extent... You can just edit the activity and reducing the time to match you 'workout time'. This will then in turn adjust your total avg speed/pace as well as tracking total activity time.

I don't think that will help with HR or Cadence (etc) data however.
