Hi Everyone,

Is it possible to show either on the map or the elevation what category the climbs are, similar to how ITV4 show the days Tour de France course?

  • Do you mean -- could any climb that is on one of our routes be classified like they do in the TdF?

The answer to your question is that this is not possible. Even if they wanted to implement this, it would be hard to rate any hill. For one, there are various ways to climb -- for example, you could enter a climb halfway up the hill, or start from the bottom. Also, the ratings of the climbs in the TdF are somewhat subjective. There are general guidelines, but the final assignment of the categories is a bit subjective. Another aspect in how the climbs are categorized is whether they occur early or late in the stage, which makes assigning a category to a stand-alone climb a bit difficult.

Yes DW152, that's exactly what I mean. This is interesting because at present I find out what sort of roads-journey I have by mapping the route on MMR, this gives a rough idea of category hills. This way though is a lot back and forth to find a route that will suit me on that particular. It would be nice to see on a route I find from someone else and it says (5)x2 and (1) category climb so then I can id like to do those hills/mountains. I think the best way then is to work out each height and distance of each climb and roughly work out the category it falls in, by hand.
