Nuvi1390 - is this normal

I use the sav nav rarely – maybe once amonth.

I charge it up over night, I put it in the car glove box, a couple of weeks later I switch it on and the battery is absolutely flat.

I charge it for 3 hours, I switch it on and it says low battery, I plug it into the car travel, for 2 hours, stop for 2 hours, switch it on and it says low battery.

I switch it off, and plug it into the mains to charge overnight. The screen lights up and goes through a loop which involves asking for the code number to be put in. In the middle of the night I hear the sat nav saying “can’t locate satellites.”

I asked Garmin about the battery and they said it was normal, the same thing would happen to my cell phone if that was fully charged, switched off and two weeks later switched on. Not true – I went on a cruise for two weeks came back, switched on the cell phone and it was still fully charged.

Do I have a effective sat nav or is this normal?
