Nuvi 370 randomly turns off

Hi,

My Garmin Nuvi 370 randomly turns off. It has a full battery bar showing yet it will randomly turn itself off and it does the same thing if it's on battery power, plugged into the computer via USB or hooked up to he car charger.

It was working fine a few weeks ago until i decided to update it. My Nuvi 370 is about 3 years old and the maps were out of date, so i hooked the sat-nav up to my laptop via USB and did the firmware update. I then paid for a one off map update and set it going doing the updates. Anyway it was late and the estimated update time said 3 hours, so i went to bed. When i got up the next morning the laptop said it had hit an error with the update an the sat-nav had turned itself off.

I managed to re-update the maps just doing the UK part of the maps instead of putting the whole map upload in and i've also tried to reset the sat-nav by putting my finger in the top right corner on turn on, but my Nuvi 370 now unusable.

Now when i turn the Nuvi 370 on, it randomly shuts down. Sometimes it will stay on for 15 minutes or so, but sometimes it doesn't even load the maps before it's turned itself off. Does anyone have a cure for this problem ?

Could it be that the sat-nav needs a new battery ?

BTW i understand that the Nuvi 370 isn't able to install the full set of maps via usb and that's why i had the computer error. I've now just got the UK maps installed via usb but the Nuvi 370 originally came with UK and European maps. I wonder if that could be causing a problem ?

Is it possible to use the usb cable to remove / delete the software in the sat-nav and start from scratch ?
