Calculate ETA at Dest for Street route based on Walking

I have a 550t. I think I would like a way for the Trip Computer application to give me at ETA at Dest based on my average walking speed when I have set a Route that is Street by Street (Automotive).

I frequently walk my dogs through town. When I get out as far as we want I use the 550t Where To/Waypoint/'Home' function to plan a route back home. If I am in Recreational mode I get a straight line back home. So I switch to Automotive profile. Which gives me street by street. But when I look at ETA at Dest it shows the time based on how long it would take a car to get there, not how long my walking speed would take.

I think I want some sort of 'hybrid' profile that uses Street routing but uses something like my Average Speed to determine how much time it will take me to get to my destination.

Thanks for any thoughts

I would say create a new profile based on the automotive one but change the navigation option to pedestrian. It should do what you want it to do.

OK, I did a Profile Change and selected Automotive.
Then a Where To/POI and found the local library. A place we often go.
It is about 1.3 miles away. I did a Go to it. I got a street by street route.
Then I clicked on the Trip Computer. The ETA at Dest was a time about 3 minutes from the current time. That all seems right for a car.

Then I did a Setup/Routing/Calculate Routes for and picked Pedestrian.
Then I went back to Trip Computer. The ETA at Dest was still 3 minutes from the current time.

So I must not be doing something correctly here. Or it needs some sort of reset. But this does sound like a great way to achieve what I want to do.

    Thanks for any ideas/advice!

Try walking a bit in towards the library and see if that changes the ETA.

Ahhh! Well, I powered off the 550t last night when I was done.
When I saw your post I powered it back up and went immediately to Trip Computer. Now it shows my ETA at Dest as about 30 minutes from the current time. Which seems exactly right.

This is great! Exactly what I was looking for. I really appreciate the help.

I hope you don't mind a follow up. I did this starting with the Automotive profile and made changes to that. Is there a way that I can now save this profile with a new name? Or do I first need to create a new profile and then make the changes? Thinking about this, have I permanently altered my Automotive profile? Maybe I goofed from the start from not understanding how the Profiles are managed.

    Thanks for any advice!

Profile management is not obvious. Stay on the profile you have now changed to your specifications and create a new profile. It will take ALL the characteristics of the current profile. Now just name this new profile something relevant, let's say WALKING/PEDESTRIAN.... Done here. Now change over to the Automotive profile and undo the changes you made, meaning route selection as pedestrian back to car or vehicle or whatever that option is. Voila.

Now to be real smart, connect your GPS in mass storage more and copy ALL the files on it to a DVD. Guess what, you now have a backup in case a file goes kaput!

    Ahhh, excellent. I understand.
    I'll do that.
So it sounds like when I'm in a Profile (like Automotive) and make any
kind of changes (like rearranging my Main Menu, Routing, etc.) those changes
are getting automatically saved. So the next time I use that Profile it will reflect the last changes I've made. That's nice. But I can see the 'gotcha' that you point out here.

Well, that being said, making the Routing change to Pedestrian in Setup really gave me exactly the function I wanted. Great answer!
