Sharing Activities to Facebook?

Former Member
Former Member
I'm new to Garmin. I have an Edge 500 and would like to be able to post my activities to facebook. I have tried clicking on the "share" tab and nothing happens. I right clicked on it and still no facebook option. I selected find other accellerators and found one for facebook, however all that does is loads facebook and still I found no option to put my activity on facebook. Can anyone help? I sent Garmin an email yesterday but have yet to hear from them.

Thanks!

Here's the answer I got from Garmin. It fixed it for me!

Thank you for contacting Garmin International. I will be happy to assist you with this.

There are a few things we will want to do to allow you to share an activity on Facebook.

The first thing we will want to verify is that the activity is set to public. When viewing the detailed activities page for a specific activity (the page with the map and charts of your activity) you will see a padlock icon to the right of your activity title. Please make sure this padlock is "open" indicating the activity is public. If it is "closed" simply click the icon to change the activity to public.

If you are using Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox, then at that point you should be able to click the "Share' button above the map on the same page. You will have an option to choose Facebook here.

If you are using Internet Explorer, we may need to change a browser setting. There is a compatibility issue with Internet Explorer that sometimes prevents the share feature from working properly. To correct this, please click on the Compatibility button (icon that looks like a torn piece of paper near your address bar), or go to Tools > Compatibility View.

At that point, you should be able to share your activities.

Please let me know if you have any further questions. Thank you and have a great day!
