If you can watch TV, as in television, on any Garmin GPS unit, well I want to know how you do it. Somehow, I don't believe the receiver works on the same frequencies...

It seems that you can watch TV on a 1490TV.
"Using DVB-T technology, you can watch real-time TV, including news, sports and movies, all on your nüvi¹. In addition to watching TV, you can listen to radio channels as part of the DVB-T service and view output from your vehicle's backup camera (if equipped) on your nüvi's high-resolution screen. Not sure that watching TV on your GPS while in the car is a good idea though... I assume it doesn't work if you're moving.

All firmware updates for nuvi's are made available through WebUpdater. Garmin doesn't make updates available as separate downloads. In short if you don't see an update in WebUpdater one isn't available.

Thanks STUARTMW, I learned something new today! But between my iPod Touch, satellite radio and ham radio, I am well entertained while driving and I don't think TV is a necessity. Now, I'm not asking my grandchildren...
