Garmin Edge 705 and Tablet Computer

I'm thinking of buying a tablet (either Android or Ipad I guess). A big plus for me would be an ability to take it on tours with me and manage my 705 from it - upload my routes, but more importantly, download new tcx files from course creators to the device.

Do any of the Andrioid tablets work like this? Will any of the systems at least let me download tracks as files and then save them to the device as though its a normal memory card (I use this work around when I'm at work).

Any suggestions would be grateful received.

The iPad definitely won't allow this, at least for now.

I guess that makes sense. I think I was probably more optimistic about the Android.

The Acer Iconia A500 tablet has a µSD slot and an USB host connector slot.
It is possible to connect the tablet with the µSD card directly or via USB cable by connecting the Edge. Flash memory of the Edge is not shown on the tablet.

I managed to load a course .gpx file into the NewFiles directory on the µSD and my Edge 800 was able to convert it to .fit, move it to the Courses dir and use it. This should be possible with a .tcx course file and the Edge 705 as well, but I didn't test it.

EDIT: Some profiles were deleted while I connected the Edge the first time, not sure why. Besides that two hidden directories for Android were created on the Edge.
Courses directory name corrected.

I bought one of these mini laptops.

I loaded all my gps programs so I can do or plan whatever and it connects to my 705 with no problems.
