Edge 705 - USB device not recognised

Hi,

I've got an Edge 705 and I'm running Windows Vista. I also have a Forerunner FR60.

Whenever I plug in the Edge I get an error message saying "USB device not recognized". I've tried downloading the latest driver for the Edge from Garmin but still get the same problem.

Occasinally it will work and I am able to upload workouts to Garmin Connect and WKO+ but I have to keep unplugging the device and reconnecting it repeatedly. lately however this has stopped working.

When I try and upload to Garmin Connect the only device that connect comes up with is the FR60 - even though I don't have the ANT+ USB dongle plugged in.

Anyone got any ideas? I'm pretty sure the problem started when I first installed the drivers for the FR60.

Any help appreciated.

  • Try this
    1) Remove the Memory micro SD card
    2) Connect the device to the PC
    3) Wait till it connects
    4) Insert the SD card

Works every time for me. I think it is done to buggy software and a timing issue with the device trying to read the SD card while negotiating the USB interface.
