Maximum Waypoints / Geocaches on GPSMAP 78s?

I've read that the Garmin GPSMAP 78s can only hold a maximum of 2000 waypoints.

Is that a maximum of 2000 waypoints & geocaches per GPX file? Or is that a TOTAL of 2000 waypoints & geocaches?

I haven't been able to get a clear answer on this so if anybody can point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it.

Try the GPSMAP Wiki, maybe they have the answer.
